Ethio telecom signs $1.6 billion mobile network deal with Huawei, ZTE

Ethio telecom signed a 1.6 billion US dollar agreement with China’s Huawei and ZTE to expand its mobile service capacity to 50 million subscribers and introduce 4G broadband network in the capital Addis Ababa.

The project also enables ethio telecom to offer 3G mobile services to subscribers throughout the country. The project increases the capacity of mobile subscribers to 50 million and will increase telecom services coverage of the country to 85 per cent.
