House approves 320.8 billion Birr budget for next year

The house of People’s Representatives has approved a 320.8 billion Birr budget for the coming year (2010 E.C).

114.8 billion Birr is allocated for capital expenditure, 81.8 billion Birr for the recurrent expenditure, 7 billion Birr for sustainable development goals and 117.3 billion to subsidize regional governments. The amount shows a 16.9 percent increase from last year’s budget of 274.3 billion Birr (2009 E.C.).

About 61.8 percent of the budget is allocated for infrastructure, education, agriculture, water and natural resource development, health, and rural development programs.
