First Lady Roman Tesfaye urged government institutions, NGOs and Civic Societies to work in collaboration with a view to enhance the activities being undertaken to empower women. Speaking on a meeting held in Addis Ababa Thursday, the First Lady said institutions working on women need to join efforts to improve the lives of women entrepreneurs.
Lack of resources, collateral, production and marketing area as well as high interest rates, short reimbursement deadline and low production skill, are among the challenges encountered by women entrepreneurs. Lack of teamwork among institutions working on women is also another problem, she added. She affirmed that Office of the First Lady at the Prime Minister Office will support the joint work of institutions working on women in a bid to improve the lives of women in the country. Representatives of institutions working on women participated in the meeting organized to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation to improve the lives of women.
