Ethiopian Origin ID Card entitles nationals of Ethiopian Origin who have acquired foreign nationality to various rights and privileges by lifting the legal restrictions imposed on them when they lost their Ethiopian nationals and create a legal framework whereby persons of Ethiopian Origin fulfill their contribution to the development and prosperity of their country of origin. (Proclamation No. 270/2002 and Regulation No. 101/2004)
Ethiopian Origin ID Cards are valid for five years.

The Immigration Nationality and Vital Events Agency (INVEA) has commenced the Digital INVEA application aimed at modernising, simplifying, and integrating its service offering. This application, which aims to enhance customer satisfaction and convenience, will efficiently serve the Ethiopian community abroad by leveraging the power of technology in the ongoing delivery of services.
